2019 Child Nutrition Conference
Red Rabbit was invited to present at the 34th national Child Nutrition Conference, held in Chicago a few weeks ago. Presented by the Child and Adult Care Food Program, who serves over 2 billion meals and snacks to over 4.4 million children daily, in a network of over 52,000 child care centers all over the country, the conference brought together vendors, state agencies and thought leaders to learn all about the best ways to feed kids.
We were asked to present two workshops, led by our CEO & founder, Rhys Powell, as well as our Education Instructor, Jennie Plewka. Our goal was to make a big splash at the conference, and Rhys led a riveting discussion on sugar consumption in American diets. During the conversation, Rhys explored sugar's impact on the health of our future generations, and opened a dialogue on diet related diseases and what we can all do to decrease the amount of sugar we provide our children.
But it wouldn't be a food conference without some delicious food, and Jennie Plewka led several training workshops including recipes you can teach in the classroom! From sharing tips and tricks on making the perfect snack, to hands on cooking demonstrations, attendees walked away with recipes and inspiration for building great eaters.
