Red Rabbit was proud to be one of the Official Partners of the Kids Food Festival last month held in the Oculus at Westfield World Trade Center. The day included demonstrations by well known chefs, food editors, and food brands as well as product samplings, giveaways, workshops, and other family-friendly entertainment and activities. The James Beard Foundation hosted hands on cooking classes throughout the two days of the event in which Red Rabbit prepped and provided all of the food & supplies. Renowned chefs from NYC establishments like Maman, Epicerie Boulud, Meatball Shop, and Eataly all had demonstrations that had the kids preparing and eating yummy food.
Red Rabbit hosted its own cooking class with our Head Instructor, Jennie Plewka, leading the kids in a Seasonal Summer Tacos recipe. The kids had the chance to slice and dice all of the vegetables for the recipe including corn, avocado, and cilantro as well as scoop out the delicious spaghetti squash. Check out our recipe page for a seasonal version of this recipe!
Additionally, there was a Red Rabbit table at the event that was serving up delicious Sweet Potato Waffles with Mango or Strawberry Rhubarb Compote. The waffles were a hit with all of the parents and kids alike and we were happy to fill in the fruit, grain, or veggie components of the well rounded plate scavenger hunt. Almost 5,000 samples were handed out to event attendees ...wow-ffles!
