Teaching kids healthy eating behaviours that last a lifetime.
In-School Labs These hands-on labs get students working with fruits and vegetables in the garden or in the kitchen to help them make healthy choices at school and at home. All labs are offered in 4-, 8-, and 12-lab packages that can be taught at the preschool, elementary, middle or high school level.
Cooking Labs Our Cooking Labs are an exploration of the senses for kids to learn about and create yummy and nutritious dishes with a focus around fruits, vegetables, and other whole foods. A Red Rabbit Cooking & Nutrition Certificate of Completion is awarded to each student upon completion of the 12-lab package.
Gardening Labs Using the classroom, community gardens, farmer’s markets and other local hot spots as our “classroom,” these labs teach the importance of sustainability and growing vegetables for health, livelihood, and learning. A Red Rabbit Gardening Certificate of Completion is awarded to each student upon completion of the 12-lab package.
After-School Programs At the end of the school day, kids often want to get their hands dirty. These 4-, 8-, or 12-lab programs led by Red Rabbit instructors are developed from our in-school labs and cover health, nutrition and sustainability topics. They are all engaging, interactive, thought-provoking and practical.
Red Rabbit Saturdays Saturday mornings, 10 AM -12 PM as described in the FOR PARENTS section.
Red Rabbit Summer Day Camp School might not be in session, but we still are…and so is fresh, healthy food. Our weeklong summer camp teaches kids ages 8-14 how to prepare healthy meals and develop cooking skills. Field trips to local farms, green markets, grocery stores and gardens, as well as a physical activity component (an age-appropriate combination of activities such as, but not limited to, tai chi, Zumba®, cardio fitness, yoga and other workouts), are all part of the camp. Offered weekdays 8 AM - 4 PM.
Field Trips Red Rabbit understands that transparency of our food system is important for our health. That is why we work directly with farmers who share our commitment to health and wellness and welcome school groups to take a tour and participate in on-site activities. Field trips vary by season and year.
