Last week we told you all about the delicious new menu items we've added to our lunch menu but let's not forget about our breakfasts and snacks. We've got some fun additions to your mornings and afternoons. They're inventive and scrumptious so start salivating as you check out the pictures below!
Rolled Oat and Pea-Nut Butter Bites - These are fun to look at and even more fun to eat! We roll our no nut pea-butter with rolled oats, toasty o's and a little bit of cinnamon into small bite size balls. The crunch of the toasty O's matched with the smooth butteriness of the pea butter makes for a perfect snack. We've found that the kids enjoy these with milk in the morning or afternoons so let us know what they have to say!
Acai Overnight Oats - True overnight oats with the addition of the nutritious super food, acai! Did you know that acai berries have more antioxidants than grapes, blueberries, strawberries, and cranberries (with 10x more than grapes and 2x more than blueberries). We combine the oats with with milk, yogurt, acai, and blueberries and we let it sit that together overnight as the oats soak up the flavor. The kids might be confused at first about the texture but let them know it's like a a mix between oatmeal and yogurt...and it's delicious!
Veggie Party with Green Goddess Dressing - This will include fresh cut veggies like cucumbers, peppers, and red cabbage (and some other new seasonal varieties as well) but the real star of the show is the creamy Green Goddess Dressing. We take garlic, mayo, sour cream, garbanzo beans, lots of basil and parsley, lemon juice, and a dash of soy sauce and blend it all up until it ends up as a vibrant green color. Invite the kids to dip the veggies right into the dressing for optimal tastiness! If you want to make the recipe at home, check out the Green Goddess Dressing recipe.
Tomato & Mozzarella Rolls - Imagine taking a big bite out of fresh tomato and mozzarella and now put the feeling in a roll and you've got our new snack item. We mix tomatoes and mozzarella cheese directly into our whole wheat flour based batter and then bake them in the oven so they get a little crispy on the outside and voila!
Italian Herb Bites - Combining whole wheat flour with fresh rosemary and dried oregano, these small triangle shaped savory snacks are so yummy. They remind you of all of smells that come out an Italian grandmother's kitchen but without all of the hard work. A healthier alternative to sour cream and onion potato chips or cheese puffs, these are bound to satisfy the kids' snack craving at any time of the day.
