November has come around which means fall is finally here, along with one of our favorite fall foods - apples! People have been enjoying apples for over 4,000 years for their health benefits and delicious taste. 

The Many Health Benefits of Apples


“An apple a day keeps the doctor away.” It may not be a cliche! Apples have a long list of health benefits that can help keep your immune system top notch - lots of Vitamin C, B-vitamins, antioxidants, and fiber. The skin of the apple contains a high concentration of nutrients so skip peeling them every once and awhile. Eating apples may also help keep the dentist away. Apples contain malic acid, which is known to help whiten teeth naturally.

There’s nothing we at Red Rabbit love more than a whole apple for a snack! Apples are great cut in slices and paired with a dip, like in our Sweet & Creamy Nut Butter Dip. They can be a crunchy addition to any salad and are easy to make into Apple Chips. You could also throw them in a pot and make a batch of our homemade Pear-y Blue Ginger Applesauce. How do I buy apples?

Farmers markets in the Big Apple are full of apples in all colors right now. There are over 7,500 known varieties of apples so be sure to try them all. When buying, look for fruits that are firm and bright in color. You can store them at room temperature for a few days and in the refrigerator for up to three weeks.
